Eco4 Free Grants Explained Benefits

of switching to renewable energy technologies

    The rules and regulations

  • “However, after a consultation in December 2020, the government announced new standards for England and Wales, to become law by 2025.
  • From this date, all rental properties will need an EPC rating of C or above. As before, these new regulations will apply to new tenancies first, followed by all tenancies from 2028.

    What this means for landlords

  • You need to get your property up to standard by 2025 for all new lets and you need to get your property up to standard by 2028 for all existing let properties, so taking in to consideration that your property needs to be surveyed and then works carried out there has been no better time but now as the money is available in the way of a government grant which does not need to be paid back, you are better off applying now before the rush. This mean that more monies can be allocated to you for works to your property.

Reduce your energy bills

As fossil fuels become increasingly scarce, their demand and price will increase. By powering your home with energy generated by the sun, ground, or air, you can save hundreds of pounds every year on your energy bills. This goes and help towards fuel poverty and makes your property more attractive to renters and helps toward the capital growth of your property as the better your property performs the better value you can achieve for your property.

Benefit the environment

Renewable energy puts an end to the production of greenhouse gases, reducing your carbon footprint. Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels helps us to improve the UK’s air quality and breathe cleaner air.

It’s an infinite resource

We’ll always have wind, sun, and water, so by generating electricity from these clean sources of energy, we can support in protecting the Earth’s resources and never have to worry about running out.

Generate an income

Through Government incentives such as the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), switching to a heating system that uses an eligible renewable energy source can enable you to receive payments for the amount of clean, green renewable energy your system produces.

Future proof your home

Protect yourself from rising energy costs by generating your own energy with renewable energy technology. And with regular maintenance, the life cycle of renewable energy products can exceed 25 years, far longer than the average lifespan of a conventional boiler at 10-15 years.

Increase property value

Installing renewable energy systems in your home can help increase its value. You may also be able to recoup a significant amount of the cost of installing renewable technologies on sale by improving your homes energy performance and gaining energy independence.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) Consists of one Distinction called the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) or ‘Affordable Warmth’ scheme. ECO4 is a government backed energy efficiency scheme in Great Britain to tackle fuel poverty and help reduce carbon emissions. The ECO scheme means that medium and large gas and electricity suppliers – including British Gas, EDF Energy, Eon, Ovo, Scottish Power, and SSE are obliged to help households with energy efficiency measures such as Electric Storage Heaters, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation, and boiler replacement or repair. The scheme provides funding to help eligible people reduce the cost of heating by installing energy-efficient measures such as Storage Heaters, Loft, Floor, Cavity, IWI Internal Wall Insulation.

How it works
